  Are JWs chronic liars?

  it's been about a year since i've been on this board.

  and what brought me here was me (a non-jw) seeing a jw girl.

  i've been out of this situation for a while now.

  My MILs worst nightmare, a nonJW

  This is a subject once near and dear to my heart regarding my dealings with my MIL who is a lifelong 73 year old JW.

  When our boys were younger, she came to me and asked if it would be OK if she studied the WTS material with them. I thanked her for coming to ask first, and then said no it wasn't OK. I said that if she wanted to talk to them about the bible it was OK as long as she didn't bring up the JW religion.

  She went behind my back and did it anyway.....until I put a stop to it. Now was that dishonest or lying?

  A couple years later my MIL came over to our home (I was working) and made a big scene about how we shouldn't celebrate Xmas or buy a Xmas tree. I responded in my mature manner, by loading the boys in the car, buying a fresh tree, strapping it onto the roof of the car and driving around the KH parking lot (during a Thursday evening meeting) honking the horn and yelling Merry Christmas and yelling "Say what about 1975"

  A few days later I was driving down the road and my MIL passed by looking like the wicked witch of the west. I smiled at her from ear to ear. I had no sooner gotten home and my wife said that my MIL had called her and told her that our cars had passed and she was smiling and I was scowling. She flat out lied and accused me of doing what she did.

  Do all JW's lie? I don't know. But I think if they are anything like my MIL and they do not get their way, then they justify/excuse an awful lot of their own bad behaviour by claiming they are being persecuted for their beliefs.

  i think that what will happen eventually, is that the us will strike a temporary deal with syria and iran.

  we will then move 50-75,000 troops in iran up north to protect the oil fields since its in our best interests, and we will charge them in oil for doing so.

  then we will leave the rest of the country to themselves.

  I think that what will happen eventually, is that the US will strike a temporary deal with Syria and Iran. We will then move 50-75,000 troops in Iran up north to protect the oil fields since its in our best interests, and we will charge them in oil for doing so. Then we will leave the rest of the country to themselves. What do you think is going to happen?

  every baby born seems to have a giant helping of fairy stories, talking animals, outrageous exaggerations parading as "fact" and an endless stream of cartoons, science fiction and make-believe.

  the laws of nature and physics are violated every few seconds in film and tv!

  is it surprising that children are not only ignorant of how things really work-but, they don't have patience and an appetite for fact when they get to the schoolroom.

  C.S. Lewis the novelist had a couple of great quotes on this subject. As he puts it, “Invention is essentially different from reverie.” and my favorite ....“In my daydreams I was training myself to be a fool, but in mapping and chronicling Animal-Land (the land of make believe his brother and he created in their attic as youths) I was training myself to be a novelist.”

  What faithful JW's do you pity the most?

  many of us have family in the borg, we are anxious to get them out, .

  we might be very angry with the borg.. but who among the jw do you really just pity?

  is it elders, pioneers, retired folks w/o decent retirement?.

  All of them that have missed out or don't understand the true concept of unconditional love...like my mother in law for missing out on being a true friend to her daughter and a grandmother to her grandkids. It's tragic.

  My God has a sense of humor. My God would set all the JW's up on their own planet according to their own warped plan...Then after all the initial high fives and halleluahs die down and the real work begins for them....the fun begins. My God likes cinema and movies and really good TV shows. My God gives us a satellite feed of the ultimate reality show called "JW's Can They Survive Eternal Boredom?"....it comes on only once a week....so you don't get oversaturated......and it follows the lives of each of the JW survivors as they meet 5 times a week to go over the same Watchtowers forever and ever, and who after a period of time slowly realize that while the Apostates suffered a relatively short time under the WTS then got out, they have managed to condemn themselves for eternity.....oh and they can't discuss their feelings with anyone else or deviate from the Watchtower answers....those are the rules.

  Oh and every night when the JW couples go to bed at 8:04PM they will hear in the distance (our planet) what sounds like a party with people laughing and having a good time and hooting and hollering...and music playing... live entertainment...all the best musicians....and then they will hear this big booming voice of the emcee (which is God) saying.."OK lets get this party started!" Then the JW wife will turn to the husband and say "They party every night! I knew we should have listened to those Apostates, but noooooooooooooo you had to be Mr. Know-it-all, Mr. 1914, Mr.New Light, Mr. Boring."

  My God says give them what they want....eternal boredom.

  I can't understand why the Witnesses think that the entire World is evil

  in their black and white world, the jw's think that everything that isn't jw is evil.. every day, i visit my dad at a nursing home, a place where dying people go, and i see so many good people, many volunteers, helping out the sick and dying.

  witnesses may preach and know their bible better than the average person.

  but i prefer people who don't know their bible as well, but have a heart and donate to the poor or help the sick and have compassion.. maybe one day when the average age of witnesses will be higher, maybe they will start to understand that there is more than preaching.

  But the JW's are like colorbind people, they don't see the difference between worldly good and world bad.

  Just to add to what you said......I think JW's live their life in black and white, while the world around them lives in color.....bright, beautiful, vivid, color.

  Besides Wanderer I can't let that analogy slide....unless of course you had survived 12 rounds with a group of lions back in the glory days of Rome.

  Wanderer, JW's are not warriors, soldiers of God or any other analogy you may want to make to combat. In fact a case could be made that most JW's in fact lack courage. They lack the courage to stand up or think for themselves, to stand up to elders, to stand up to pompous and arrogant family members or relatives and most of all to the WTS.

  The ones who pack up and leave the WTS (many who end up here including yourself) show great courage.

  i will be interviewing for a position at the university of southern california.

  the pay is not going to be that good to begin with, but i have mitigating factors, my son who is a junior this year, can get in and i won't have to pay a dime towards his tuition.

  his dream is to go to usc and to play for the usc marching band.

  What Do People Hate Most About JWs???

  i think most "worldly" people consider jws a nusiance---especially on a saturday morning!

  they hate being bothered by peddlers at their door.

  some people can't stand the witnesses' smugness and self righteous attitude.

  Help, I can't seem to keep my nerve!

  as many of you know, i have been shunned by my mother but due to all i have done for her and her attachment to me she has slowly let me back into her life,.

  today i stopped by her home for decorating input and i pulled a bottle of wine from the car so that we could share it together and enjoy what we were doing.

  she had one glass and went into how i must stop smoking for jehovah.
